Avid followers and viewers of the television adaptation of Lee Child’s beloved crime novel, Reacher, have patiently awaited updates and news regarding seasons 2 and 3 of the Amazon Prime series of the same name. However, just recently, Collider had the chance to talk to the head of television at Amazon Studios, Vernon Sanders. When asked by Collider about any news on the release date of Reacher season 2, Sanders teasingly answered that it’s possible the second season will come out next year, 2023. Collider’s Steven Weintraub also followed up with an inquiry into how filming is going since production began back in September 2022, to which Sanders replied:
“It’s going really well. Alan is back, and he is so fantastic in the role. I’m so proud of the producers [for] finding that fit for Reacher. The Reacher fans of the book, their reaction to the show have just been a dream. Season 2 is awesome. And as great as season one was, I think season two delivers beyond that, and I do think there’s a good chance that that show will be back next year.”
Seasons 2 and 3 were confirmed just 3 days after the first season’s premiere, but season 2 is not exactly going to follow book number two.
Season 1 followed Lee Child’s first book, “Killing Floor”, which featured Jack Reacher on an unexpected journey in Margrave. However, the second season was confirmed to take a leap into the 11th book in the novel series called “Bad Luck and Trouble”. The story would be – according to the plot in the book – revolving around Reacher and his former friends and colleagues in his old military unit, the 110th Special Investigations Unit.
Since Reacher will be going back to his roots, it would be safe to assume that Roscoe Conklin (Willa Fitzgerald) and Oscar Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin) will not be returning to the show. The only character from season 1 – aside from Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) – that may return is his female friend and one of his former teammates, Frances Neagley (Maria Sten). Other confirmed cast members also include:
- Shaun Sipos (to play David O’Donnell)
- Serinda Swan
- Ferdinand Kingsley
- Rory Cochrane
- Luke Bilyk, Dean McKenzie
- Edsson Morales
- Andres Collantes
- Shannon Kook-Chun
- Ty Victor Olsson
- Josh Blacker
- Al Sapienza
- Domenick Lombardozzi
One of the most viewed Amazon Prime series, Reacher will still be written by Nick Santora alongside the author of the original novels, Lee Child. Before season 2 comes out, you may refresh the thrilling 8 episodes of Reacher season 1 on Amazon Prime.
